WRITE HERE AT MOTUEKA
A brief bio about WHAM!
Without writers, where would we get the books?
WHAM! - 'Write Here at Motueka' - began in August 2022, with the support of Te Noninga Kumu, the Motueka Library, and local writer Bettina Flautley - for which much thanks.
Not every Library supports its local writers in quite this way, providing a focus for 'writing community.'
That means a safe space to share our writing drafts and ideas.
Every community has stories that should be told. Too often they get filtered out, by the commercial demands of the publishing system.
Use the links below if you have more questions - or just turn up one day.
You and your writing are equally welcome at WHAM!
Are you writing something?
Have you always meant to?
Or is it that you once wrote, but haven’t for a while?
Want to start again?
Feel the need to talk with other writers?
Come and visit us at the Motueka Library, on the third Wednesday every month, from 12 noon till 1.30.
Bring your lunch if you want to - we do tea and coffee, and home-made cake.
We share examples of group members' writing - reading it aloud, for immediate feedback.
All types of writing are included, from family history, to Young Adult Fiction, to poetry, to children's story books, to memoir - you name it.
